Suspensions & Hearings: Applying for a Hardship License

Hardships are only granted to Massachusetts license holders. In order to apply for a hardship license, you must attend a hearing at any RMV Hearings Site. See the Hours and locations of Suspension Hearing sites section of our website for more information.

A hardship will only be considered for the following offenses. Please click the links below to download the hardship criteria forms for each offense type. These forms will list all the requirements that must be met in order to qualify for a hardship license. Be sure to bring all required documents with you when you meet with the Hearings Officer.

NOTE: Although an applicant may meet all requirements, issuance of a hardship license is only granted at the reasonable discretion of the RMV, based on the facts of the case.
