Important Transaction Notice

You are about to begin a transaction which will involve sending certain personal or private information (e.g., your credit card number) over the Internet, a public communication network.

Use of Secure Browser

To ensure a reasonable degree of security for your request to the Registry of Motor Vehicles, you must use a web browser with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) capability (e.g., Netscape Navigator 2.1 or later). If you do not use an SSL compatible browser, we will not be able to accept your request.

Netscape browser versions 4.05 or earlier were shipped with a secure message component that has expired.  We encourage all users of this browser to upgrade as soon as possible.  Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 and later are not affected by this problem. Your Responsibility

The key to a correct and successful transaction is the accuracy and completeness of the data you enter. If you enter incomplete or inaccurate information, your transaction may not be processed. Neither the Registry of Motor Vehicles nor the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are responsible if you submit inaccurate or incomplete information. Consequently it is very important that you enter information accurately and confirm it is correct before sending it.

Transaction System Technology

Your transaction will be processed by a state-of-the-art system which has been designed in accordance with good commercial practice; however, neither the Registry of Motor Vehicles nor the Commonwealth of Massachusetts can guarantee that all transactions submitted through this system will be successfully completed.

Confirmation of Completed Transactions

Your transaction may not actually be processed until several hours after you have entered it. Upon entering your request, you will receive a digital receipt (with a unique transaction number) which confirms that the system has received your request. Once your request has been processed, the Registry of Motor Vehicles will send you an e-mail confirmation. You should save copies of all receipts. If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation within three (3) business days, your transaction may not have been fully processed. If this occurs you should contact the RMV Telephone Center.
