BOSTON-The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will hold a public informational meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Visitors Center at Fall River Heritage State Park to discuss a study it is conducting of the Route 79/Davol Street Corridor in Fall River, between Cedar Street and the new Veteran’s Memorial Bridge.
This transportation planning study will examine how to improve connectivity within the corridor. It will seek to balance transportation needs – meet the needs of local and regional residents – while supporting economic development opportunities. The study will result in recommendations that can be carried forward into project development, and are intended to benefit motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit and access to the new South Coast Rail service. The study is expected to be complete by the end of 2013.
This is the first of two informational meetings that will provide the general public with an opportunity to learn about MassDOT’s conceptual planning study process, and for MassDOT to introduce the goals and objectives of the study and to solicit input. There will also be a presentation of the analysis of existing and future no-build conditions that has been completed to-date in cooperation with a group of stakeholders (Working Group), as well as a summary of identified problems, constraints, and opportunities in the study area. A second public informational meeting will also be held near the end of the study to present the results of the alternatives analysis.
The meeting location is accessible to people with disabilities. To request language interpretation assistance, American Sign Language interpreters, assistive listening devices, handouts in alternative formats, or information on the meeting, please contact: Jill Barrett by email firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone (860) 570-0740 by March 15, 2013. Portuguese interpretation services will also be provided at the meeting.
