Special Traffic Advisory - 9:00PM on Friday, June 1st through Sunday, June 3rd

From 9:00PM on Friday, June 1st through Sunday, June 3rd, ramp W7, I-95 southbound (towards Dedham) to Route 9 westbound (towards Natick) will be closed to allow for the ramp’s full depth reconstruction. Areas of the I-95 southbound shoulder will also be subject to full depth reconstruction.

From 9:00PM on Friday, June 1st through 6:00AM on Saturday, June 2nd, two lanes of I-95 southbound will be available to drivers on the mainline in the vicinity of ramp W7. Following 6:00AM on the 19th, all three lanes of the mainline will be available to drivers, though the ramp itself will not reopen until Sunday, June 3rd at 6:00AM.

At the end of the operation, Ramp W7 will be signalized where it meets Route 9 westbound and all signals at the I-95/Route 9 Interchange placed on their final timing and phasing. Temporary striping for the final configuration of the interchange will be placed and signal loop detectors (devices in the pavement which indicate the presence of vehicles to traffic signals) will be placed in advance of the operation described above.

During the closure of ramp W7, southbound traffic on I-95 seeking to access Route 9 westbound can proceed as follows:

  • Remain on I-95 at the I-95/Route 9 interchange, crossing over Route 9 on the I-95 bridge;
  • Continue south to Exit 19B at Highland Avenue and cross over I-95 on the Highland Avenue bridge;
  • Take the first right to merge onto I-95 northbound;
  • Take I-95 northbound to Exit 20B; and,
  • Merge on to Route 9 westbound and proceed as normal.

At the end of the weekend operation, the shoulder will be excavated, regraded, paved to its new profile. Likewise, the ramp will be tied into its new, permanent location and the existing split between the southbound lanes of I-95 removed.

A map of these ramp closures and associated alternate routes follows. In case of inclement weather, operations will shift to the following weekend. Motorists should exercise caution and allow additional time for their trip during operations.
