The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MASSDOT) prequalification process is done on an annual basis by each contractor and requires the submission of a completed application. Effective July, 15, 2012, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) began using the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highway Division prequalification of horizontal contractors.
The prequalification application, instructions, definitions of the classes of work and other related items can be downloaded below. Each contractor shall indicate the particular classes of work they desire to be prequalified in for bidding purposes.
Contractors must renew their certificates every twelve months, or earlier. Failure to renew before the current certificate expires will place the contractor in an expired status and, therefore, ineligible to bid.
**Please be advised: In accordance with M.G.L. c. 81, § 8B, the MASSDOT application for prequalification is submitted under the penalties of perjury. Any fraudulent or inaccurate information submitted to MASSDOT will be referred to the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General for further investigation and appropriate action. **
Construction Prequalification Committee meetings are held every Wednesday at 8:30 AM, except on legal holidays. Contractor meetings are held on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 10:30 AM, as requested.
