MassDOT FHWA Title VI/Nondiscrimination Program

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), as a recipient of federal financial assistance, has developed this Title VI/Nondiscrimination Program to ensure full compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended (Title VI) and related nondiscrimination statutes, Executive Orders, and regulations in all MassDOT programs and activities. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 provides that “no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. MassDOT’s Title VI/Nondiscrimination Program for Federal Highway Administration funded financial assistance describes the methodology for ensuring compliance with the law, the proactive steps taken to encourage participation and avoid discrimination, and the handling of complaints that allege violations of nondiscrimination provisions.
