Construction brings some inconvenience, including detours and changes in regular travel routes. MassDOT will continuously provide advance notice of the project phases, changes in routes and other information. The end result will be a new roadway and bridges, and enhanced connections and options for vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists.
Local access to area attractions and abutting properties will be maintained at all times. All businesses are open. Motorists should follow the Battleship Cove Area signage for access to the waterfront. MassDOT encourages through traffic to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. Drivers destined for locations near the affected area should expect delays and should reduce speed and use caution while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
The schedule for this major infrastructure project is subject to change without notice. All lane restrictions and closures and construction activities are weather dependent. As is typical with most large construction projects, work may sometimes take place without prior notice; however, MassDOT will make every effort to provide advance notice.

I-195 Overnight Lane Closures for Paving Began September 12
MassDOT is implementing a series of alternating lane closures on I-195 East and West at both ends of the Braga Bridge. The overnight closures will take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 PM each night to 6:00 AM the following morning, and will continue for about three weeks. One travel lane will be maintained in each direction at all times. The closures will allow the contractor to mill, pave, and stripe the highway connections to the Braga Bridge.
Drivers who must travel through the affected area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution while approaching and traveling through the work zone. MassDOT encourages drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
