2008 Route 79 Study

The City of Fall River, in cooperation with MassDOT Planning, completed a study of the Route 79 corridor in June 2008 that examined the overall feasibility of creating an urban boulevard along Fall River's waterfront. A primary recommendation was to conduct a more detailed review of the alternatives with an analysis that includes, but is not limited to, regional transportation impacts, economic and land use feasibility, environmental constraints, refinement of the conceptual layouts, and coordination with the South Coast Rail project. You can view a map of the study area or the study's final report.

South Coast Rail Project

The South Coast Rail project will restore passenger rail service from South Station in Boston to the South Coast of Massachusetts. A major component of this current study effort is to provide better access and connectivity for the proposed Fall River Depot station stop located within the study area.
