Suspensions & Hearings: Non-Criminal Civil Offenses and Payment Defaults (Citations)

Non-Criminal Citation prior to January 1, 1992:

If you have defaulted on a non-criminal civil citation, you will need to visit the court where the case originated and obtain a "green release" form. Please bring the green court release form to any full service RMV branch office.

There is a $10.00 filing fee to remove each default. If your license or right to operate was suspended as a result, you must pay a $100.00 reinstatement fee. If the court's green release indicates a "guilty" finding, you may be directed to see a Hearings Officer. See the Hours and locations of Suspension Hearing sites section of our website.

Non-Criminal Citation after January 1, 1992:

If you received a non-criminal citation after January 1, 1992, you may pay the citation, late fee, and/or reinstatement fee by calling the Telephone Center. The citation can also be paid over the Internet. (only is not suspended) In the Online Branch, under "Other Services" select "Pay Citation." You may also pay in person at any full service RMV branch office, or mail your fees (Do Not Mail Cash) to:
