Patrick-Murray Administration Makes it Easier for MassDOT Customers to Utilize Online Registry ServicesElectronic Checks Now Accepted for Licensing
(Boston, MA-September 9, 2010) - The Patrick-Murray Administration today introduced another online convenience that will make it easier for Massachusetts drivers to go online for MassDOT RMV services and avoid waiting in line at branches. Customers of www.massrmv.com can now pay by electronic check to renew their license, order a duplicate license or MA ID, order a driving record or crash report and pay for a road test exam.
"This newest feature on our website means a sizeable population of our customers will no longer be forced to visit a branch for these registry services because they don't have a credit card," said MassDOT Registrar Rachel Kaprielian. "The new payment option is secure and as easy as writing a check."
Customers will only need to enter their checking account and bank routing numbers to complete the e-check transaction on www.massrmv.com. The feature is expected to be especially useful for drivers who often wait until their license has expired and believe they have to go to a branch to renew. E-mail confirmations of online payments can also serve as proof they have renewed their license in case they are stopped for a motor vehicle violation.
Go Online Instead of Waiting in Line-Electronic checks is just one of more than a dozen new services added to the MassDOT RMV website in the last two years increasing customer transaction traffic by 40%. In addition to renewing a license or registration, customers can also complete all license paperwork online and make an appointment to complete the application in a branch as well as register to be an organ tissue donor, book a road test and sign up for a free reminder service.
