A Message From the Registrar of Motor Vehicles

July 21, 2005

A recent news report suggested that personal information obtained at the Registry branch in Chinatown may have been compromised.

We would like to re-assure our customers that no information has been compromised.

The Registry of Motor Vehicles takes breaches of confidential and personal information very seriously. We have put a number of safeguards in place to ensure that all of the documents that we process containing any personal information will be shredded and disposed of in the most secure manner.

The Registry has made great strides over the past few years by making customer service our number one priority. We want our customers to know that they can confidently do business at the Registry without any concern about their personal information being disseminated or disposed of carelessly.

We apologize to any customers who may be alarmed about today’s news report. And, we assure you that this was an isolated incident and will not happen again.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Hinden
Registrar
