Check Twice Save a Life. April is Motorcycle Awareness Month.

April 26, 2005

The Registry of Motor Vehicles would like to raise awareness to the increased number of motorcycle riders on the roads between April and October. With over 286,000 riders licensed in Massachusetts it is important for automobile operators and motorcycle riders to share the road and be aware of each other. Most fatalities occur on the weekends between 6-9 and involve males ages 25-34. With 58 motorcycle fatalities last year it is important that motorcycle riders are properly educated in all aspects of operation. The RMV’s Motorcycle Riders Education Program has helped to train over 62,000 riders since 2001. Also check back for a new motorcycle rider’s manual to be available in the upcoming month.

Please check our motorcycle section for some helpful tips on the road or to locate the Motorcycle Riders Training Course nearest you.
