Boston Bruins specialty license plates are now available.
Motorists can get the plates at all full-service Registry branches starting this week, or they can order online at http://www.massrmv.com/OnlineServices.aspx.
There is a $40 special plate fee, in addition to any other registration charges. The money benefits Massachusetts Youth Hockey, an affiliate of USA Hockey.
"Die-hard Bruins fans now have another way to show their support for the team," said Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey, who makes a guest appearance in advertisements promoting the plate. "They'll be supporting not only a great team, but a great cause."
"Other special plates have raised millions of dollars for their charities, and we expect this plate to be just as popular," Registrar of Motor Vehicles Kimberly Hinden added.
Money raised from the Bruins Plate will be used to promote good player behavior and support grass-roots hockey programs across the state. On first-time orders, $12 of the special plate fee covers the cost of manufacturing the plates. On renewal, the entire $40 goes to the charity
