Altered or Fraudulent New Jersey Titles:

The RMV has identified a large number of fraudulent or altered New Jersey titles for newer high-end vehicles such as Cadillacs, BMWs and Mercedes. The information printed on these titles is a little blurry and not clearly printed.

The RMV has also identified valid NJ titles that have been altered. The information that is mostly altered on the titles are:

• Year
• Make
• Model
• VIN
• Odometers

If you look closely, you will see that the information is altered by erasing or scratching the document and replacing it with the information from a stolen vehicle.
