Toll Plaza Demolition Project

Period of October 15 to October 28, 2017

District 1

J.H. Maxymillian Inc., MassDOT's contractor for the District 1 I-90 Toll Demolition Project, has substantially completed the work.

The District One Toll Demo project reached full beneficial use and substantial completion on September 26. There is no item work scheduled for the two week period of October 15 through October 28.

District 2

Throughout the period covered by this look-ahead, Middlesex Corporation, MassDOT's contractor for the District 2 I-90 Toll Demolition Project, will continue construction operations. Work at all locations within District 2 is trending on or ahead of schedule. Work will be performed project-wide during the standard working hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM. Please note that all work is contingent upon the weather.

No work will take place at Plaza 3 during the two week look ahead.

At Plaza 4 in West Springfield, loam will be spread Monday, October 16. Landscape work will be done Tuesday, October 17 through Friday, October 20. Miscellaneous tasks will take place throughout the two week look ahead period.

At Plaza 5, loam will be spread throughout the week beginning Monday, October 16. Landscape work will occur Friday, October 20 through Wednesday, October 25 with the exception of the weekend. Miscellaneous tasks will take place throughout the two week look ahead period.

At Plaza 6 in Chicopee, landscaping work will occur Monday, October 16 through Thursday, October 19. Miscellaneous tasks will take place throughout the two week look ahead period. The surface course will be paved during night work Wednesday, October 18 through Monday, October 23 with the exception of the weekend. The final striping will occur during night work Tuesday, October 24 and Wednesday, October 25.

At Plaza 7 in Ludlow, landscaping work will occur Monday, October 16 through Thursday, October 19. Miscellaneous tasks including will take place throughout the two week look ahead period. The paving of the surface course will occur during night work Monday, October 16 and Tuesday, October 17. The final striping will occur during night work Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27.

At Plaza 8 in Palmer, landscaping work will occur Monday, October 16 through Thursday, October 19. Miscellaneous tasks will take place throughout the two week look ahead period. The final striping will occur Monday, October 16 and Tuesday, October 17.

District 3

Throughout the period covered by this look-ahead, Skanska/McCourt, MassDOT's contractor for the District 3 I-90 Toll Demolition Project, will continue construction operations. Work at all locations within District 3 is progressing on or ahead of schedule. All work will be performed project-wide predominately during the standard working hours of 6:30AM to 4:30PM, Monday to Friday. Please note that all work is contingent upon the weather.

Throughout the job site, catch basin and pipe cleaning work will occur throughout the week beginning Monday, October 16.

At Plaza 9 in Sturbridge, new electrical service will be installed, landscaping work and work to activate the new lighting and modify the existing lighting and CCTV relocation will all occur throughout the two week look ahead period with the exception of weekends.

At Plaza 10 in Auburn, the installation of new electrical service and work to activate the new lighting and modify the existing lighting will occur over the two week look ahead period with the exception of the weekends. The grading of the area as well as the casting and spreading of loam Landscaping will occur throughout the week beginning Monday, October 16. Landscaping work will be done Thursday, October 19 through Thursday, October 26 with the exception of the weekend.

At Plaza 10A in Millbury, new electrical service will be installed and work to activate the new lighting will occur throughout the two week look ahead period with the exception of weekends. Landscaping will take place Wednesday, October 18 through Friday, October 20.

At Plaza 11 in Millbury, new electrical service will be installed and work to activate the new lighting will occur throughout the two week look ahead period with the exception of weekends.

At the Millbury Park and Ride, new electrical service will be installed and work to activate the new lighting will occur throughout the two week look ahead period with the exception of weekends. The demolition of the Old Park and Ride will also occur throughout the two week look ahead period. Landscaping will be done on Wednesday, October 18.

At Plaza 11A in Hopkinton, the installation of new electrical service and work to activate the new lighting and modify the existing lighting will occur over the two week look ahead period with the exception of the weekends. Work to install gates will occur Monday, October 23 pending the receipt of information from MassDOT. Landscaping work will be done throughout the week beginning Monday, October 23.

At Plaza 12 in Framingham, new electrical service will be installed and work to activate the new lighting will occur throughout the two week look ahead period with the exception of weekends. The grading of the area as well as the casting and spreading of loam will take place Monday, October 16 and Tuesday, October 17. Landscaping will be done Wednesday, October 18 through Friday, October 20. Swale drainage work will occur Monday, October 16 through Thursday, October 19.

At Plaza 13 in Framingham, the installation of new electrical service and work to activate the new lighting and modify the existing lighting will occur over the two week look ahead period with the exception of the weekends. Landscaping will be done Monday, October 16 through Wednesday, October 18. Work to replicate the wetlands will take place Monday, October 23 through Wednesday, October 25.

District 6

Throughout the period covered by this look-ahead, DW White Construction and SPS New England, MassDOT's contractors for the District 6 I-90 Toll Demolition Project, will continue construction operations. DW White will continue their work at the Weston Toll Plazas, SPS New England will continue their work at the Allston-Brighton and Ted Williams Tunnel Toll Plazas. Work at all locations is progressing on or ahead of schedule and set to be completed at the same time in November of 2017.

The majority of work at Weston, Ted Williams Tunnel and Allston Brighton will be performed during standard working hours between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Some work at Allston-Brighton will be done during night work between 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Certain work at the Allston-Brighton interchange will require the use of weekend shifts, on Sunday, October 15. Some work at the Ted Williams Tunnel will require night shifts. Please note that all work is contingent upon the weather.

Weston

Throughout the two week look ahead, crews at the Weston toll plaza will be working on an assortment of tasks such as cleanup efforts, etc.

Allston-Brighton

At Allston-Brighton, SPS New England will continue work at Plaza 20. Plaza 20 connects I-90 Westbound traffic to Cambridge Street, and Cambridge Street traffic to I-90 Eastbound. If weather permits, all work will be completed on Tuesday, October 24.

At Plaza 20, the final pavement markings will occur during night work on Sunday, October 15.

Other miscellaneous work that will be done throughout the work zones includes rumble strip cutting during night work on Tuesday, October 24. The installation of permanent signage for the viaduct will take place during night work on Sunday, October 15. The removal of the fire hydrant and the final seeding of the area will occur Monday, October 16. Efforts to clean up Beacon Park and remove the equipment off of the job site will take place throughout the week beginning Monday, October 16. Attenuators will be installed during night work Monday, October 23 and Tuesday, October 24. Ground in reflectors will be installed during night work Monday, October 16 and Tuesday, October 17.

Ted Williams Tunnel

At Plaza 31, SPS subcontractor Tango will be onsite throughout the week beginning Monday, October 16 to adjust drainage and electrical structures and install new castings to their final grade. Venture will be waterproofing the tunnel slab on Monday, October 23. Brox will be paving the surface course during night work throughout the week beginning Monday, October 23. This work will require full closures of Ramp E-T. There will be a marked detour. All night work is tentative, depending on work that needs to be completed prior and weather.

At Plaza 37, SPS subcontractor Cosco will be onsite Monday, October 16 through Wednesday, October 18 to install guardrail at the concrete island. Tango will be onsite Monday, October 16 to adjust drainage and electrical structures and install castings to their final grades. Brox will be milling and paving the plaza during night work throughout the two week look ahead period. All night work is tentative, depending on work that needs to be completed prior and weather.

Sumner Tunnel Entrance
