Welcome to the community webpage for the Route 53 – Middle Street & Winter Street Intersection in Weymouth. This is a federally funded construction project. MassDOT will use this web page to keep residents and businesses regularly informed with information about the construction phases of the project, including planned lane closures.
The project, managed by MassDOT, consists of the reconstruction of two intersections, Washington St and Middle St and Middle St and Winter St. Work will include full depth pavement, new sidewalks, curbing, plantings, wheel chair ramps, utilities and updated traffic lights and signalization that will improve the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic at these intersections.
The project will begin in July 2011. It is expected to take approximately 16-18 months and is projected to be completed in August 2012, which includes a winter moratorium period between December 1, 2011 to March 15, 2012.
