- Access Road Linwood Street - Layout [3 MiB]
A 2D map showing the Access Road option between Medford Street to the north and Poplar Street to the south. Two signalized intersections of a circulating access road with McGrath Highway, located south of Somerville Avenue and north of Washington Street. The circulating access road allows two-lane access to/from Poplar Street, Washington Street, Somerville Avenue and Medford Street. The northbound access road is shown as one lane following the existing Linwood Street alignment through the Brickbottom District, and the southbound access road (two lanes) is located to the west of the McGrath Highway mainline. McGrath Highway mainline is generally shown to be two through lanes approaching and through the access road area.
- Boulevard Road Diet - Layout [4 MiB]
A 2D map showing the Boulevard Road Diet option. Three through lanes northbound and southbound are provided on McGrath Highway between Medford Street to the north and Poplar Street to the south. Poplar Street is realigned slightly north of its current location.
- Median UTurn Rotary Hybrid
A 2D map showing the U-Turn/Rotary Hybrid option between Medford Street to the north and Poplar Street to the south. Poplar Street is realigned slightly north of its current location A rotary is shown at McGrath Highway, Poplar Street, Somerville Avenue and Medford Street intersection, with the McGrath mainline passing through the rotary. All left turns at the McGrath Highway and Washington Street intersection are processed via signalized u-turn intersections located north and south of Washington Street.
- North of Lowell Line Cross Sections
This graphic was presented as a draft short-term alternative for potential bicycle and pedestrian accommodation changes to the Route 28 (McGrath Highway) corridor, north of the Lowell Line Bridge and south of Broadway. Specifically, this figure shows the existing roadway cross section on Route 28 (McGrath Highway), as well as five potential lane alignment and width configurations that may be possible by restriping within the existing curb to curb layout and no major geometric changes.

Please note:The following draft conceptual alternatives under development were presented for discussion purposes and to receive input from the Working Group. Based on this feedback, the Boulevard Option, a modified Access Road Option, and a combination of a Signalized Rotary (at Somerville Ave.)/U-turn (at Washington St.) Option are being refined for further analysis and evaluation by the project team. We have also posted a descriptive summary document for each alternative that includes key assumptions, issues and opportunities. If you would like to submit any comments or have any questions, please email Rachel Hammerman.
