BOSTON – Thursday, December 26, 2013 – MassDOT Highway Administrator Frank DePaola has announced that Thomas J. Tinlin, of South Boston, will join MassDOT as its Chief of Operations and Maintenance beginning on January 13, 2014.
Tinlin is ending almost a decade as the Commissioner of the Boston Transportation Department. During that time Tinlin introduced technology to modernize operations, embraced a multi-modal approach to roadway design and led the implementation of transportation plans for countless planned and unplanned events in the City.
“Tom brings to the Highway Division his accomplishments as a skilled manager and a real passion for incorporating innovation into the way daily business is handled,” said Administrator DePaola. “In his role with MassDOT, he will be working closely with our Highway Districts across the Commonwealth to increase consistency and accountability of our maintenance and operations.”
Tinlin holds a Master of Public Administration from Suffolk University and also brings experience as a community liaison to MassDOT.
“I am pleased to be joining the dedicated men and women of MassDOT,” said Tinlin. “I look forward to working for Governor Patrick, Secretary Davey and Administrator DePaola.”
