BOSTON- Thursday, December 5, 2013- Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Secretary and CEO Richard A. Davey has received the national “Person of the Year” award for 2013 by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA).
The CMAA honored Secretary Davey for his leadership in delivering “dramatic innovation and change to a large organization responsible for an impressive portfolio of varied projects,” according to CMAA President Bruce D’Agostino.
The construction management association says Secretary Davey has led MassDOT efforts to adopt the highest professional standards of practice and construction management principles.
Governor Deval Patrick appointed Richard A. Davey MassDOT Secretary and Chief Executive Officer in September 2011. Under Secretary Davey’s direction, MassDOT is focused on operating a transportation system that meets the Governor’s priorities: safety, customer service, employee engagement, fiscal responsibility and innovation.
“Rich Davey has been a tremendous asset to my team and a champion for improved transportation in Massachusetts,” said Governor Deval Patrick. “Under his leadership, our transportation agencies have become more innovative, more customer-focused and more efficient. I congratulate him on this honor.”

The CMAA Person of the Year annual award recognizes leadership, professionalism, and impact on the construction industry. The Construction Management Association of America is dedicated exclusively to the interests of professional Construction and Program Management. The Association includes more than 11,000 members representing construction owners in both the public and private sectors. CMAA has 28 regional chapters and 50 student chapters nationwide.
