The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has initiated a Disparity Study to determine if contracts for construction, professional services, architecture and engineering, goods and services, and concessions are being equitably awarded to ready and willing contractors. The agencies participating in the Study include: MassDOT, Mass Aeronautics Division, Mass Highway Division, Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA), Massachusetts Port Authority Division (Logan Airport), and the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

Overview


The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has initiated a Disparity Study to determine if contracts for construction, professional services, architecture and engineering, goods and services, and concessions are being equitably awarded to ready and willing contractors.

The agencies participating in the Study include: MassDOT, Mass Aeronautics Division, Mass Highway Division, Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA), Massachusetts Port Authority Division (Logan Airport), and the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Mason Tillman Associates, Ltd., a national public policy firm, is conducting the MassDOT Disparity Study. The firm has conducted disparity studies in 110 communities nationwide.

A successful Study requires the involvement of local businesses willing and able to perform public contracts. Mason Tillman Associates, Ltd. will interview business owners concerning their experiences contracting or attempting to contract with the participating agencies. Community meetings were held in Boston and Springfield, MA in the month of October, 2012.
